Creating a Title

Today I will be talking about creating a title for your piece of work, whether it is an essay or a novel, or something in between.

Titles are important. Although you aren't supposed to, most people judge a book by its cover, and guess what? The title is the main part of your cover.

You want to pick something that people won't forget. It also has to be short and to the point. Most titles should be between 2-4 words. Some can be longer, but it's mainly a better idea to have a short title, for various reasons.

Also, when picking a title, make sure that it sticks to your general idea of your work, but doesn't give it all away. It can be a little bit vague, but it should at least give some clues.

If I was someone who never read the blurbs, I want to make sure that the title gives me some info about what I'm reading. Also, if it is paperback, it most likely doesn't have a very detailed blurb, if it has one at all.

Here are some bad examples:

*The Dog
*The Frog
*The Fog
*Hey!
*I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT

That last one is so weird, but I can imagine it. Actually, that could be a good title in a way, since it makes readers at least a little bit interested. Also, if it is in CAPS, people will most likely pick it up.

Also, for novels, your publisher might pick a title for you, but you will most likely have some input on what the general gist should be. ALSO, TRY TO PICK A BIG AND INTERESTING FONT!!!! Font is so IMPORTANT, and I can't stress this enough! It is one of the most important things for obvious reasons.

Ok, enough ranting. BASICALLY pick a short, sweet, to the point, interesting title.

Thanks for reading! Please comment below! Thanks, MIC ;)
