Length of Your Story

Today I will be talking about the length of your story. Or essay.

I JUST BROKE A WRITING RULE. I used a fragment!! :( I need to do a post on that sometime :)

When writing ANYTHING, you have to make it a length. YOU HAVE TO. Otherwise, you have...well....NOTHING!

OK, some teachers want a max of pages that you can write: I will avoid those because obviously I can't say anything about the length since it is...A SPECIFIC LENGTH.

Anyways:

Personal Narrative: 4-5 pages. You want your readers to understand your writing and you story, and why you chose to tell this. You want it to be efficient and a perfect length for your readers to want to read it, but also to not get bored.

Informative Essay: OK, there are two types -

iSearch. It should be about 8-10 pages long, and that is just the essay. You have to add a Works Cited, an interview, a business letter, and some teachers require reflections to write along with it. So that brings you to a total of 15-18 pages on average.

Normal Informative Essay: 5-6 pages. It should have the required info, but you don't want it to be so long that it will bore your readers and your teachers will fall asleep while reading. Make it detailed, but not too long.

Novel: AS LONG AS YOU WANT IT. You don't have to write a Harry Potter novel. You can make your novel a short one: it doesn't have to be 1000 pages long! Keep it as long as you want it.
